Lovely stay – home from home. The flat is friendly, cosy and very hospitable. It is very much staying in someones home – not a cold ‘corporate’ space
It has plenty of space – I had eleven people round for a buffet dinner and we were fine. They were all jealous of my lovely flat!
The mezzanine bedroom, the spiral staircase and the shower are particularly fab
Very nice area – lots of restaurants and a good atmosphere
I had a great stay at the Montparnasse apartment. For those who are not interested in reading a long review, I’ll sum it by saying that the accommodations were cozy and inviting, and the owner (Alex) was very hospitable and gracious.
I couldn’t have asked for anything more in terms of conveniences and accommodations. The clothes washer, telephone, kitchen, and internet access are great, making it an unbeatable bargain. But the apartment’s uniqueness, the ambiance of the surrounding neighborhood, and opportunity to mingle in with the Parisian culture make it an unforgettable experience.
The neighborhood was surprisingly inviting even though I speak very little French, and the surroundings felt very safe. The location was full of wonderful boulangeries, patisseries, fromageries, brasseries, supermarches, and cafes.
I would highly recommend this apartment to any traveler.
I had a very nice stay at the apartment. The place was very cozy and the owner was very hospitable and very helpful. What i love most about the apartment is that it is situated very close to the Metro and you can travel virtually anywhere with the Metro so it was very easy to get around. A must for travellers.
Also loved the fact that the apartment is situated close to a lot of restaurants and other shops. Would recommend the Japanese Restaurant nearby. Lovely place.
When we visit Paris we always stay in an apartment, we think it is the best way to experience the city, and what a better way than being in a neighborhood such as Montparnasse with all that history.
We even met the nephew of Le Corbusier (!!) in a nearby cafe who gave us the best tips for restaurants and places to visit in the neighborhood.
We had a very nice time; the apartment is very nice and comfortable, nicely furnished and has all the conveniences. Alex was so responsive anytime we had a question even if he was not there; it was a delight dealing with him.
And last, the “Best Boulangerie” in Paris is just around the corner!
We had a wonderful stay at Alex’s apartment in Paris. It was very close to the Paris Metro, giving us great access to the sites all around the city. The place has great amentities including telephone, Internet and washer. We highly recommend using this place for your stay in Paris.
Alex’s flat is a gem…..it’s a small house really, set in an inner courtyard off a quiet street in Montparnasse. Pernety Metro Station is a short stroll past delicious-looking shopfronts.
I loved the stairwell that led to the flat.
We three (2 teenage boys and their mother) spent a week inside the cacoon of Alex’s three levelled flat and were oblivious to the outside howling winds and cool temperatures of late-coming Spring until we stepped out into Rue Gergovie.
Having a kitchen at our disposal meant we could provide our own meals when we pleased, thus saving money which could then be spent on scrumptious cakes from the patisserie. The neighbourhood supermarche, bistrot and boulangerie patrons were sympathetic to my attempts at their native language.
Alex’s selection of furniture and furnishings is very welcoming as is Alex himself, who was easily contactable when needed. (Thank you for being so hospitable.)
We happily recommend staying at Alex’s as it’s a wonderful
opportunity to experience a very real part of Paris.
We had a great stay. The flat is clean and spacious and the price is right. We loved our experience in Paris. We were close to the Metro and had no problem getting around in Paris from this “homebase”. Thanks to Alex for a great place at a great price.
Our family had a memorable time in Paris at the end of June. Alex’s apartment was great – we absolutely did not want to go to a hotel and we made a good choice. We loved the area – quiet street, friendly people, close to bakeries and charcuteries, restaurants and shops and of course the métro. Our 19 years old son was very confortable downstairs – it was fresh and private. The internet and the telephone made a big difference. We want to thank Alex for his hospitality.
Having lived in France for two years, I was at first a bit ambivalent about returning as a tourist (and staying in an overpriced hotel) this summer. But staying at Alex’s place really made me feel like I was coming “back home” to Paris. And my partner, who had never visited western Europe, found that the accommodations did not in any way reflect the stories he had heard of cramped and stuffy Parisian hotel rooms. (Luckily, he also loved Paris enough to come to refer quite easily to our “next trip!”)
The apartment was more than large enough for both of us to spread out and really settle in. Even if traveling with another couple or with kids, we would have been very comfortable; the two levels plus the loft afford a degree of privacy that could only be matched by separate hotel rooms — guaranteed to be much pricier, and not nearly as nice.
Despite our resolution to leave the work at home, we also found the internet access invaluable for planning purposes and for staying in touch with family in the States. In what turned out to be typical of Alex’s hospitality, he even offered to download Skype on his own computer so that we could call family in the U.S.!
Especially during the rainy week we had, we enjoyed such little luxuries as picking up croissants and pains au chocolat for breakfast at one of the local boulangeries, and then enjoying them cozily at home with hot tea. The ability to prepare meals on site also really made a difference when traveling on a budget.
Having done a good deal of research on accommodations, Alex’s apartment definitely proved to be the best deal out there. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat. Alex, we’ll be in touch again when planning the “next trip!”
I’ve stayed in hotels many times while visiting Paris, but this was my first stay in an apartment. Since I needed to remain in Paris for over one month, I knew I wanted something larger than normal.
Alex’s apartment did not disappoint. First, I was happy to see that the apartment looked even better than the pictures. I found the apartment to be both extremely spacious and cozily inviting at the same time.
Alex is a wonderful host, kind and attentive. He took extra time to point out some interesting spots to visit in the neighborhood including a quaint little cobblestone street just nearby.
The apartment is quiet and near to everything as soon as you walk out of the door. The computer came in handy, especially when my own laptop had a few problems of its own.
I highly recommend staying here if you want a nice apartment in the heart of Parisian culture.
Stayed in Alex’s apartment at the end of July and it was perfect for us. It’s location is very central and convenient to all shops restaurants and of course the Metro. A five minute walk and about 25 min on the Metro would have you in the center of Paris.
The internet was a must to us and our teenage daughter, being 14 she needed to keep in touch with her friends. Sleeping arrangements were good, and there was plenty of room for us all.
Alex was very helpful and was only a phone call away if there were any problems. The area felt very safe and it was good to experience the real Paris.
We had a great time there and would recommend the apartment to our friends. Thanks Alex.
We stayed in the apartment at the beginning of September. It was a very good choice as the apartment is very close to the underground and to different shops. We really enjoyed being there especially as we made friends with the lovely neighbours from across the window (2 wonderful baby boys!) and they greeted us every morning. Alex was very helpful and ready to adapt to last minute changes. We would certainly like to come back.
We’re from Toronto, Canada and my family and I just returned from a week’s stay in France over the Christmas holidays and we stayed in Alex’s flat. I am so happy that I stumbled across Alex”s ad on the Internet because his flat is a gem. It is very cosy and inviting, it really felt like home away from home. We felt very much at ease and all the necessary amenities were provided for. The quaint personal touches that Alex has in his flat is specially touching. I love sleeping in the loft with the skylight above your head. I think on a clear night you might even see the stars. Alex is a special landlord, very warm and accommodating. He even takes the time to meet you at the flat on your first day and show you around the area. The flat is situated perfectly, close to the Metro, quaint shops, cafes and is a very safe neighborhood.
For sure, we are going to stay in Alex’s flat again when we go back to Paris. We love it!
The flat is mostly vacant for the moment. Have a look at the availability calendar, and drop me a line!
